![the three reasons that were consistently heard across all one-on-one conversations with men, when simply asked ‘ why don’t you ask for help from another man?’
looking back now this was field research in 2024, which led to our first roundtable conversation with 8 men to understand what would be required in a safe space for men to be emotionally open and vulnerable with other men.
most men wait until they’re out of options, because reaching out first means being vulnerable, and vulnerability isn’t something men are given much room for.
however, when they see another man be emotionally open It gives them social permission to do the same.
that’s our fight club insight and learning, which now contributes to how we socialise the conversation of men’s mental health until it’s normalised.
